A Weekend in Wales (1996)

Following our four happy days at Elveden Forest in Suffolk, which is near the east of England, we left for Wales, a mere 235 miles to the west, where my niece Daphne, and her husband live. It was a car ride of well over 5 hours, passing through several busy cities, using the motorways and 'A' roads most of the time. Wales, on the western side of the UK is a bit cooler than the rest of the country, so it was necessary to be more warmly clad.

Daphne is a professional caterer, and her meals and her home were both very enjoyable. All day Saturday we toured the country-side, spending the entire day visiting 'Snowdonia'. We took several pictures, and had lunch at one of the little fish and chip shops. The scenery is very rugged and mountainous, and the language quite strange, as per the following example: Gwybodaeth = Information

After a pleasant weekend in Wales, we returned to Maureen's home in London at about 5.30 p.m. on September 1st 1996.
